Supreme Court President Özerdağ: Courts Will Also Be Accessible for Citizens with Disabilities

Supreme Court President Bertan Özerdağ stated that they are working with the vision of creating a “barrier-free court” and that elevators to serve the Supreme Court, the District Court of Nicosia, and the District Court of Kyrenia will be operational by the latest in February next year.

In a statement released on the occasion of International Day of Persons with Disabilities on December 3, Özerdağ said removing the barriers faced by individuals with disabilities is one of their priorities.

Özerdağ, the Supreme Court President, noted that they have taken concrete steps in this direction and have begun efforts to make the courts accessible to citizens with disabilities as well.

Özerdağ announced that an agreement had been made for an elevator to serve the Supreme Court and the District Court of Nicosia, and another for the District Court of Kyrenia. He emphasized that the elevators are planned to be available to the public by the end of February 2025.

Özerdağ also reiterated that they will continue to work to make all services and rights more accessible to individuals with disabilities.
